  • London's public transportation system is your best option. Use contactless payment cards or an Oyster card on:

    • The Underground (Tube) - tap in AND out at station barriers

    • Buses - tap in only when boarding

    • National Rail within London

Important: Always use the same payment card for all your journeys. Transport for London (TfL) automatically caps your daily fare at around £9.00 when traveling within Zones 1 & 2 (central London), saving you money compared to buying individual tickets.

  • Citymapper is the top choice for real-time public transit directions in London, with Google Maps as a solid alternative. When searching for locations, always use the postcode (e.g., W11 2AJ) since London has many streets with duplicate names. The postcode's first letters indicate the area (W = West, E = East, N = North, SE = Southeast, etc.).

    • Example address: Walmer Castle (pub) 58 Ledbury Road London W11 2AJ

  • Be alert for phone theft, particularly from people on bikes and e-bikes who may snatch devices. Keep your phone secure by:

    • Storing it in a zipped bag or front pocket when not in use or using a phone tether

    • Holding it firmly with both hands when taking photos or checking directions

    • Standing away from the road edge when using your phone

    • Being extra vigilant in busy tourist areas
